Wellbeing

Here at the Farnborough Academy we take the wellbeing and mental health of our staff and students very seriously. It is a factor in every decision we make and we endeavour to ensure that all wellbeing needs are met. Mr Johnston one of the assistant heads has a whole school responsibility for ensuring that safeguarding and wellbeing maintains a high prominence.

As part of our wellbeing strategy we have implemented the following;

  • All students complete well being surveys at key points in the academic year
  • Wellbeing team including a safeguarding and welfare officer, 2 counsellors working onsite, access to a school nurse every Tuesday, close links with Kooth and 6 members of staff trained as wellbeing champions
  • Drop in sessions are available at key points throughout the week and this is advertised with tutors
  • Fortnightly inclusion meetings to consider those most at need and how we as an academy can support
  • Non-teaching heads of year will all be trained as designated safeguarding leads
  • Tutor activities that focus on mental health and wellbeing
