We would like to thank parents for continuing to be vigilant and maintaining contact with us regarding their children displaying any Covid-19 symptoms. We would also like to remind you of the need to let us know if anyone in your household is being tested and the outcome of that test.
The current rule on self isolation is that if you live with someone who is displaying symptoms or has tested positive but you are not displaying symptoms then you must self isolate for 14 days.
If you have symptoms then you must self isolate for 10 days from the onset of symptoms even if this is on day 14 of an isolation meaning you would need to isolate for 24 days in total.
If a child tests positive they must self isolate for at least 10 days and school must be notified immediately so that we can put our protocols in place.
All decisions will be taken in collaboration with Public Health England and the Department of Education.
If your child is self isolating, the academy blended learning package will kick in. Students will be set work via SMHW if they are in years 8-11 and via post if in year 7. We are currently moving all homework and online learning to Google Classroom and this will begin after October half term. Students are currently being issued google log-ins at school and parents will be contacted with more details in the coming weeks.
At this time of year the usual seasonal cold and flu viruses are also in general circulation. We appreciate that this makes things harder for parents when trying to determine if their child should or should not be self isolating. Sore throats and common colds are not reasons for children to be self isolation and missing a significant period of time from school.
