Google Classroom Information

From November 2020, all of our online work and homework will be set using Google Classroom; an online classroom using the Google platform which is available on many devices (including PC’s, Macs, tablets and smartphones) and will support the learning that takes place in school and improve their overall digital literacy. In addition to this, Google Classroom can be used to support assessment and feedback, share resources such as websites and videos with students, provide an area to discuss and collaborate on projects and communicate with their teachers.

All pupils have been given a class code for each of their classes which can be found below:

Homework

Students can find all of their set homework on Google Classroom, within the relevant subject ‘Classroom’ that students are enrolled onto. Not all homework will need to be completed digitally however, and this will be clearly communicated in the homework itself.

Classwork

In addition to the homework that is being set, all teachers will be putting a copy of their lesson onto Google Classroom. This is to allow students to look back at the lesson in order to support them with their future work and homework. Pupils who are self-isolating will also be expected to complete this work on a daily basis and return to the teacher.

Blended learning Work

Following the significant period of school closure, to support your child’s progress and to ensure pupils resume learning the school’s extant curriculum, blended learning approaches have been adopted in all subjects. This is a mixture of in school and out of school work to ensure all key knowledge, skills and concepts that have been missed are caught up. These will be additional homework tasks that need to be completed.

Parent Access

We believe parents have an important role to play with homework and understand that parents want to be involved. Google does not provide access for Parents/Carers, so if you want to see exactly what your child has been doing, we suggest logging in with your son/daughter and looking through their homework with them. This way, you can see exactly what they see and be involved in what they do.

The Farnborough Academy app is due to be launched in the next few weeks which will allow you to directly log in to your child’s account to view their homework and online activities.

Access for all

We are aware that not all students have access to a computer at home, but there are plenty of places and times where students can access a PC in school outside of lessons.
